Amtgard

Amtgard is a live-action roleplaying game that's picking up popularity globally. I don't know too much about amtgard, it's really Cadokun's area of expertise. But here's a link to the website that explains everything.

To make a simple amtgard sword, take a pbc pipe and string a fun noodle onto it (those pool toys), and then ducktape the whole thing, and leave a little pbc pip[e at the bottom for a handle. The main ruke is to have a weapon that is light and usable, but doesn't cause any actual pain. Tournaments and battles are held and you score points by hitting different areas of the body. It's really fun. (and you don't even have to have any skill with swords, although it helps. ;;

So ruki got all the basics really. The simplest Amptgard game is just between two people. Any hit to a limb causes you to lose that limb, for exapmle, if your arm gets hit, you can't use that arm. In war battles, you lose the limb and have to keep playing without a stop, in tournament, when you lose a limb you stop play and start a new round. A hit to the torso is an instant kill, and if you lose two limbs, like an arm and a leg, or two legs, etc, you die.

The website ruki gave has the week by week roleplaying rules, where you can choose your own class and even special magic classes, like wizard!
